Vocabulary
  1. Harried (pg.57): to harass, annoy, prove a nuisance to by or as if by repeated attacks. "My normally harried, rushed mother always turns into a strung-out retail junkie just before Turkey Day."
  2. Vermilion (pg.78): a brilliant scarlet red. "An unseen hand turned off the radio as he crossed the threshold, and bags of potato chips vanished, leaving the faint scent of salt to mix with vermilion oil paint and wet clay."
  3. Obligation (pg.58): something by which a person is bond or obliged to do certain things, and which arises out of a sense of duty or results from custom, law, etc. "It's like a holy obligation, part of what makes her a wife and mother."
  4. Oriented (pg. 80): to  adjust with relation to, or bring into due relation to surroundngs, circumstances, facts, etc. "So i said i have a friend who is really artistic and community-oriented and could she help with the posters?"
  5. Imperial (pg.69): of a commanding quality, manner, aspect, etc. "The Marthas have not issued an imperial invitation for her to sit with them."
  6. Demented (pg.84): crazy; insane; mad. "She has a warped sense of humor as well as a demented beautician.
